Sewing Sacred Threads

Hello World!!!!

Welcome to my new website:
Sewing Sacred Threads

My name is Lisa Olko and I’m very excited to introduce you to my newest “oldest” venture.  I admit that sounds funny, but let me explain.  This is a new venture a.k.a. a new business of an age-old craft, and for me something that I have been doing almost all of my life, and that is SEWING.  You can read all about the evolution of this venture and why I feel so passionate about my offerings here.

At Sewing Sacred Threads I teach and sew what’s been passed down to me. Vintage, heirloom fabrics, and ordinary objects are sewn together to make extraordinary keepsakes.  I created this space to share my love of sacred sewing.  When I say sacred sewing, I mean sewing that is intentional, meaningful, empowering and healing.  The process of hand sewing or slow stitching becomes a meditation as well as a creative process.  Sacred Sewing becomes a medium of storytelling while healing body, mind and spirit.

I have a lot to share and I intend to use this blog as a platform to share “threads” about Sacred Sewing with the following categories:

  • Threads: sharing ideas and thoughts about how sewing is a metaphor for life
  • Projects: sharing projects and events through stories and pictures
  • Thrifting: sharing my thrift shop adventures and how I source my supplies
  • How-tos: sharing the nuts and bolts and simple facts about sewing

So please do take some time to look around…

  • Check out my Home page to get a lay of the land,
  • Go to my Sew with Me page to see all the ways we can create something together
  • If you’re interested in my upcoming classes make your way to the EVENTS page
  • if you want some inspiration head on over to my Gallery.

This site is brimming over with opportunities to sew and hopefully there will be something that calls to you in a meaningful and healing way.

And before I close, I must take some time to give a huge shout out to my daughter Gabrielle, who has been the chief IT person and builder of this WordPress website… it would not have been possible without her.

My mermaid daughter Gabrielle tirelessly working on my website and always with a smile.

Thanks again for visiting and please let me know how I can help you incorporate sewing sacred threads into your life.  Shoot me an email and we can discuss all that is possible in this realm.

Yours in stitches and with smiles,

Lisa
